Aaron Herr, Millersville RDI, is shown with a pair of huge
Purple Globe turnips that grew this year in his home garden.
Herr put the seed into the ground on July 14, and pulled out
, the behemoths this week. The turnip on the left weighed four
pounds, the other weighed five-and-a-half.
Poultry Federation Plans
Fund Raising Banquet
Members of the Pennsylvania
Poultry Federation gathered at
the Penn Harris Motor Inn,
Harrisburg to plan the 1974 Fund-
Raising Banquet. The special
committee, under the chair
manship of James Price, Beacon'
Milling Company, York,
discussed the banquet
and potential subscribers.
Assisting the chairman this

The Annual' Fund Raising
Banquet will be held during the
week of the Pennsylvania farm
Show on the night of January 9,
1974, at the Penn Harris Motor
Inn,Camp Hill. Featured speaker
for the affair is the Honorable
Tennyson Guyer, internationally
known Congressman from Ohio
who captures his audience with
wholesome humor, common
sense philosophy and a whirlwind
style.
Hie evening will begin with a
social hour, followed by dinner
and climaxed with the awarding
of' valuable door prizes. En
tertainment will be povided
during the social hour‘and dinner
by a small combo.
The magic number this year
for the Banquet Committee is 502.
Previous attendance reached a
high of 501 individuals and the
committee is hoping to surpass
' that with a minimum of 502. The
banquet is one of the principal
means of supporting the
Federation, which representsthe
poultry industry for the State of
Pennsylvania.
