The reserve grand champion
was shown by Donald Brandt,
Myerstown RD3. A Hereford, it
weighed 1,025 pounds and was
sold to Henry Arnold, Long Lane,
Lebanon, for 45 cents a pound. It
was also the Hereford champion.
The champion crossbred was
exhibited by Donald Bollinger,
Myerstown RD2. Weighing 1,210

pounds, it was sold to Keller
Bros., Buffalo Springs for 45
cents a pound.
Other animals exhibited and
sold include: a 915-pound Angus,
owned by Janice Seaman,
Grantville RDI, sold to Hervitz
Packing Co., Harrisburg, 45 cents
a pound and second place,
Angus: 730 pound
Christian Brandt, Lebanon RD2,
sold to Walter Heistand,
Manheim RD4, 45.5 cents a
pound, first Angus light; a 1,050-
pound Angus, owned by Thomas
Seaman, Grantville RDI, sold to
Hervitz Packing, 45 cents a pound
first, Angus medium; a 795-pound
Angus, shown by Daniel Seaman,
Grantville RDI, sold to Bernard
Brandt, Fredericksburg RDI, 43
cents a pound.
In the Buddy Steer category, a
1,080-pound Hereford, raised by
Jay Bomgardner, Annville RD3,
was sold to Reyburn Hartman, 8
W. Governor Rd., Hershey, at
46.5 cents a pound, it was the
champion; a 1,140-pound
crossbred, exhibited by Jeffrey
Heisey, Lebanon RDI, sold to
Willis Sbupe, Barto, at 43 cents a
pound, second place; 1,000-pound
crossbred, shown by Donald
Bollinger, Myerstown RD2, sold
to Willis Shupe, Barto, at 43 cents
a pound, third place; a 900-pound
Angus, exhibited by Donald
Brandt, Myerstown RD3, sold to
Norman Martin, at 43.2 cents a
pound, fourth place; and a 1,090-
pound Hereford, shown by
Donald Bollinger, Myerstown
RD2, sold to Reyburn Hartman,
Hershey, at 43 cents a pound, fifth
place.
Miller’s steer, in addition to
being the grand champion was
also the champion show animal.
Jeffrey Heisey’s steer was the
champion fitter.
The three steers selected for
the Pennsylvania Farm Show in
January were shown by Jay
Bomgardner, Annville RD3;
Jeffrey Heisey, Lebanon RDI and
James Leaman, Lebanon RD2.

The average weight of the 12
steers, including the champions,
was 1,015 pounds. The average
price per pound, including the
champions, was 46.7 cents a
pound.
Last year’s average selling
price was 43.8 cents per pound.
