Teaching in a single-teacher agriculture department is the challenge taken on in July by Warren C. Wagner. Wagner is teaching at Lampeter-Strasburg High School, replacing Richard Thomas who is currently in volved in beginning a vocational agriculture program at Lan caster Mennonite School. Wagner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Wagner, is from Locust Run near Thompsontown in Juniata County. The family has a 120 acre general farm, where he helped with chores and farm work while going to school. Following graduation from Juniata High School Wagner began classes at Penn State University, where he graduated in June of 1973. Teachers: Thoughts in Passing from Locust Run to State College during his last two years at the University, While at Penn State Wagner was a member of the famous Blue Band. He is also a member of the FFA honorary ag ed fraternity. The vocational agriculture program at Lampeter-Strasburg has 40 to 50 students enrolled, with about 25 in the FFA. Wagner serves as FFA advisor. The elective teaching courses includes teaching four sections of pleasure animals - horses, dogs and cats - to high school students; two sections of agriculture-in dustries, which is taught to ninth graders who are potential vocational students or future vo ag students; a plant science course, which covers soils and field crops to basically vo ag students in 10th through 12tb grades, and ag business Warren C. Wagner grades. Vocational shop skills are taught by the industrial arts department. Unmarried, Wagner resides with the Robert Houser family, 436 Beaver Valley Pike. His hobbies are many and varied, including working with wood, refinishing antiques, antique bottle collecting, and photography. Drive Carefully!
