Phone 717-626-8538 classes Pennsylvanians were acclaimed premier exhibitors in six of the seven breeds with Richard P. Sholley, Jonestown, Lebanon County, copping the accolade for both the Poland China and Spotted Swine breeds. Sholley also showed the cham pion boar in these two breeds. Another big winner in the ‘72 Expo was Reno H. Thomas, a mid-state farmer-legislator who grabbed all of the top prizes for Yorkshire and breeding stock. The Beavertown, Snyder County, pork producer also took the grand championship in the live judging of market-ready hogs. The revised schedule of events for the 1973 show, November 8-13, will have all of the swine breeding classes showing on Friday and Saturday in the small arena. The barrows competition will continue to be held Sunday and Monday with the truckload judging first followed by the individual classes. Nearly half of the barrows in the live judging will be im mediately shipped to a nearby slaughterhouse and meat experts will make an evaluation of the carcass. Grand championship of the on-foot (live) classes is good for $5O and a plaque. Grand championship of the on-rail judging is worth $l,OOO and a plaque. ©American Cyanamid Company 1973 York Co K Will Tour Lancaster Co. Farms The York Area Chamber of Commerce will visit Lancaster County this year for its annual farm-city tour. The tour, to be held Monday, will first stop 41 at Lauxmont Farms, Wrighteville RDI, for the First Annua) Purebred Dut chman Hereford Sale. Lunch will be served prior to' the sale at 1 p.m. The tour will then proceed to Baum’s Bologna, Inc., Elizabethtown, and the Atlantic Breeders Cooperative. The meeting will be held at the Harvest Drive Farm Restaurant, near Intercourse, that evening. John T. Smith, York County agricultural agent, arranged the tour. Milk Price Hearing Set Pulbic hearings on milk prices for the Lancaster County area will be held in Harrisburg on Nov. 15, it was announced Tuesday by the Milk Marketing Board. The session, which starts at 10 a.m. in the State Agriculture Department building, will be for the southcentral area which includes Lancaster, Lebanon and York counties. Chairman Harry Kapleau scheduled the hearings and said their purpose was to update statistics received at prior sessions. He said they do not necessarily signal price in creases.
