Mrs. Howard Martin, Mrs. Clayton Charles, Mrs. Lester Newcomer and Mrs. Milton Funk reported on a visit made to Hamburg State Hospital for Retarded Children. The Society sponsors Jhree children, in cluding a 19 year old Lancaster youth, by providing gifts for birthdays and special days and providing spending money for trips to the school-maintained store. Entrants to the State “Sew a Garment” contest will be honored by the Society with a luncheon ticket for the Lancaster County Farm Women Convention on November 3, when all County contestants will be judged to choose 10 Lancaster participants to compete in the State com petition planned for January 7 at Harrisburg. Participating from Society 23 will be Mrs. Edgar Funk, Mrs. Robert Miller, Mrs. Glenn Burkholder and Mrs. Charles Frey. Society 25 Farm Women Society 25 met last Saturday, October 13, at the home of Mrs. Melvin Groff, Lancaster RD6. There were 17 members and eight guests present. Mrs. Chester Eshleman led devotions. The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. John Metz, president. Members accepted an in vitation of a store tour of Hickory Farms at Park City on Monday evening, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. Members voted to give donations of $5 to United way and to the Cancer Society, and $lO to the Fresh Air Children’s Fund. It was decided to have an exhibit table at the Homemaker’s Christmas Program at the Farm and Home Center on Thursday, November 15. Mrs. Carl Gish and Mrs. Samuel Goss will be in charge of setting up the table. Mrs. Carl Gish received the gift of the month. Announcement was made of the annual convention of the Society of Farm Women of Lancaster County at the Lan caster Bible College on November 3.
