Miller, executive secretary of the American Angus Association reports. The tour is sponsored by the American Angus Association in cooperation with the Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma Angus Associations. The purpose of the tour, said Miller, is to show cattlemen leading herds of commercial and registered Angus, to study new methods used by today’s feedlots and meat packing houses and to see some of the world’s best grassland. There will also be stops at two outstanding Quarter Horse outfits plus three other special events. The first stop will be in St. Joseph on October 5 r the First Day of Issue ceremonies of the 8 cent commemorative Angus postage stamp being issued by SALES & SERVICE 1054 South State St. Ph. 717-733-2283 the U. S. Postal Service. There also will be a tour of the American Angus Association headquarters. The last stop on the tour will be at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, and on Monday the group will visit Woolaroc Museum near Bartlesville, Oklahoma. 1 After the stamp ceremonies the group will go to Kansas State University at Manhattan. Among the attractions at the University will be a chance to see one of the nation’s oldest Angus herds, started in 1881. There will be a talk by Dr. Donald Good, head of the animal husbandry depart ment on “The Beef Explosion in the Great Plains” on Saturday, October 6. The tour will then head out through the Kansas Flint Hills and the Blue Stem of the Osage of Oklahoma. The tour will be made entirely by chartered bus. The public is invited to take part, but room and meal reservations will be made only for those people who made advance reservations for the tour and who ride the busses. State Convention Grange Centennial More than 2,000 delegates are expected to attend the 101st annual convention of the Penn sylvania State Grange which will be held in Reading October 22-25, according to A. Wayne Readinger, state master. The Convention climaxes the year-long centennial celebration of the State Grange and marks the beginning of “a new century of service to the agricultural and rural communities of Penn sylvania,” Readinger said. Action by the delegates will focus attention on key issues and problems facing farmers and farm production in the years ahead, the state master added. Scott, master of the National Grange; Dr. Russell E. Larson, provost of Pennsylvania State University; Rep. H. Francis Kennedy, chairman of the House Agriculture and Dairy Com mittee; State Agriculture Secretary James A. McHale, Mrs. George Grobusky, flora of the National Grange and the National Grange’s represen tative to the convention and George Grobusky, master of the South Carolina Grange. Also on the program will be B. McClain Cochran, general secretary of the Pennsylvania Sabbath School Association, and Rev. David Grimm, of the Pennsylvania Council on Alcohol Problems. Highlighting activities at the convention will be talent con tests, musical competition for family vocal and instrumental groups, and finals in the youth ritual and Grange procedure contest.
