Broiler-Breeder Workshop
Slated Sept. 26
The management of broiler
breeders, the economics, the
contracts, the housing and
equipment, the nutrition, and
other related activities will all
discussed at a Broiler-Breeder
Workshop on September 26. The
site of this event is the Lancaster
Farm and Home Center.
The industry committee has
slated many national authorities
on the various topics that will be
presented. Industry represen
tatives will have commercial
exhibits at this workshop, also, as
their equipment and building
details concern the broiler
breeder industry.
The morning session will be
chaired by Floyd Hicks, Penn
State poultry specialist, following

for discussion will include,
beginning at 9 a.m., The Broiler-
Breeder Enterprise: Economists
and Budgets - U.S. Situation,
with Philmore Bender, professor
of ag economics at the University
of Maryland. Paul Whipple of
Pennfield Corporation will
discuss the Pennsylvania
Situation.

Breeder Management Items-
Nutrition and Egg Handling.
At 2 p.m. various industry
representatives will present
Housing and Equipment through
displays and presentations. At 3
p.m., Health Management areas
will be discussed by three
speakers. John Newman,
veterinary practitioner from
Beltsville, MD, will speak on
Mycoplasma (MG and MS and E
coli selectrons; Edward
Mallinson, poultry division chief,
PA Bureau of Animal Industry
Labs, Summerdale, will present
“Health Report” for Pennsyl
vania, and Robert Gentry, Penn
State professor of veterinary
science, will present a Research
Report.
