Slaughter schedules increased
slightly in some quarters. Death
losses reported high due to ex
treme heat and humidity both on
trucks and in houses. Less than
trucklot prices held unchanged
though very competitive in in
stances. Advance interest fair at
unchanged levels with this week.

balance with needs; mediums
fully adequate. Trade advices
indicate sharp discounts being
offered on smalls. Undertone

volume buyers, consumer grades
white eggs in cartons, delivered:

Placements of broiler chicks in
the Commonwealth during the
week ending August 25,1973 were
1,237,000. The placements were 9
percent above the corresponding
week a year earlier, but 6 percent
below the previous week.
Average placements during the
past 10 weeks were 9 percent
above a year earlier.
Settings for broiler chicks were
1,961,000 4 percent above the
previous week and 9 percent
above the comparable period a
year earlier. The current 3-week
total of eggs set is 6 percent
above the same period a year
ago.
Inshipments of broiler-type
chicks during the past 10 weeks
were zero compared with 28,000 a
year ago. Outshipments
averaged 304,000 during the past
10 weeks, 17 percent above a year
earlier.
Placements in the 21 States
were 57,554,000 —1 percent below
the previous week and 1 percent
above the same week a year
earlier. Average placements
during the past 10 weeks were 4
percent below a year ago. Set
