Export Licensing Policy for
Soybean Shipment Announced
The U.S. Department of
Commerce announced that,
beginning immediately, licenses
will be issued for soybean exports
for shipment during September
on the basis of 100 percent of the
unfilled balance of orders which
had been accepted by the ex
porter on or before June 13,1973,
and previously reported to the
Department. This licensing
procedure is in implementation
of the Department’s decision to
continue validated licensing
requirements for export of
soybeans during the transition
period from the old crop to new
crop through the month of Sep
tember.
Lebanon Valley to Choose
Poultry Queen Tonight
Selection of a “Poultry Queen
of Lebanon Valley” will be the
highlight of a buffet supper to be
held in the second floor
auditorium at Boscov’s tonight,
(August 18) at 6 p.m. Sponsored
by the Lebanon Valley Poultry
Association, the event will
feature a contest to select the
county’s official entry in the State
Poultry Queen Contest which is
held in October.
Mark limes, president of the
Lebanon Valley Poultry
Association, announced that the
buffet supper and Queen Contest
is somewhat of an innovation this
year. In previous years, the
contest was held in conjunction

Previously, the Department
had anounced in Export Control
Bulletin No. 88 dated July 2,1973
that exports of soybeans against
orders accepted on or before
June 13, 1973, for export prior to
September l, 1973 would be
licensed for 50 percent of the
unfilled balance of such an order.
The Department observed that in
no case could the unlicensed
portion of such an order be
eligible for licensing under the
new policy announced today.
The detailed regulations im
plementing this announcement
were issued in Export Control
Bulletin No. 95.

must be between the ages of 17
and 23, live in the Lebanon Valley
area, be engaged in, or related to

poultry industry. She must also
be willing to make public ap
pearances to promote the poultry
industry in the Lebanon Valley
area. Production of eggs and
broilers, and the processing of
poultry products is a major in
come producing industry of the
Lebanon Valley.
