Dr. Baylor Speaker at Hay Convention The 78th Annual Convention of The National Hay Association, Inc. begins with the directors meeting today (August 18th) at the Troy Hilton Inn, Troy, Mich. Neil Trainor of Utica, Mich., president of the trade association of hay shippers, dealers, receivers, brokers, farm im plement manufacturers and other businesses and individuals interested in the commercial hay industry, will call the business meeting to order on Monday morning, August 20th at 8:45. The convention program is planned around the theme, “What’s Ahead for the Hay In dustry”. The lead off speaker on this general subject will be Dr. John E. Baylor, Extension agronomist, Pennsylvania State University. Grades. He will have on display hay samples identified with the chemical analysis of these bales. Dr. Baylor is secretary treasurer, American Forage and Grassland Council. The Council has for years been active in promoting production of quality hay. The National Hay Association is a member of the AF&GC. Among the speakers to follow Baylor are N.H.A. members S. K. Diebold of Deere & Company, Perry Roberson of Hesston Corporation and Pat Minnihan of Vermeer Manufacturing Com pany. “Hay, Heifers and Humanity”, is the subject to be covered by Dr. Donald Hillman, Extension specialist in dairy science, Michigan State University. A paper, “What’s Ahead for Hay m the Southeast”, will be presented by Dr. James L. Butler, Agricultural Research Service, Tifton, Georgia. The convention will be ad journed on Tuesday after com pleting the business session, receiving reports from con vention Committees and the election of officers and directors for the coming year. It was announced that all first through third year projects could be entered for judging on Achievement Day. The group decided to have a swimming party at the home of Kim Doutnch at 5 p.m. Wed nesday, August 22. Each member will bring part of the supper. It will be the final meeting of the year.
