close - closing prices on slaughter
steers steady to 50c higher,
heifers 50c higher. Cows closed
steady to 50c lower, bulls fully 50c
higher. Stocker and feeder cattle
strong to 1.00 higher.
Four day receipts 15,350 head
compared with 11,950 previous
week and 18,300 a year ago.
Slaughter steers approximately

Demand was. unusually broad
for slaughter cattle early in the
week as several major packers
inactive the previous week edged
back into the market and prices
advanced sharply Monday. With
local supplies increase ap
proximately 28 percent from the
previous week, demand
narrowed by mid-week. Prices
suffered the first major setback
in several weeks as most buying
interests were cautious and
selective as a more normal
pattern of marketing began to
develop. Although late week
declines were sharp closing
prices remained slightly higher
than late previous week. The
steer trade was solidly supported
by feeder demand for the fleshy
two-way steers.
