Contest,
Karl Hellerick, newly ap
pointed chief of the Lebanon Soil
Conservation District, will be in
charge of laying out the lands to
be plowed. Soil Conservation
technicians will demonstrate the
techniques of soil and land
judging and all persons attending
the event will have a chance to
demonstrate their skill in soil
judging. Prizes will be awarded
for this event also.
Farm Implement Dealers will
display some of the equipment
which, in some instances, is
threatening to make the mold
board plow obsolete. Prominent
on the list of equipment to be on
display will be several versions of
the chisel plow, and some types of
no-tillage planters. These im
plements, when properly used,
show much promise in promoting
good soil and water conservation
practices.
Anyone who is skilled in the use
of farm equipment may enter the
County Plowing Contest. Con
testants under the age of 15 years
must have a certificate of in
struction in tractor driving.
Entry blanks for the contest can
be obtained from any Farm
Implement dealer, or at the
Agricultural Extension Office,
400 South Eighth Street, Lebanon.
The deadline for entry in the
contest is August 20.
