Craft Fair Set
For Millersville
The annual Fair and Juried
Exhibition of the Pennsylvania
Guild of Craftsmen will be held
Wednesday August 8 through
Saturday, August 11, at Miller
sville State College, Millersville,
Pa. The 1973 event marks the 26th
year that members of the 13
Chapters that comprise the Guild
have met to sell, exhibit and
demonstrate original crafts in all
categories. Mr. S. Arthur
Shoemaker (Conestoga Chapter
of Lancaster, Pa.), serving as
general chairman, has assured
all visitors to this year’s event
they will have the rewarding
experience of viewing hundreds
and hundreds of quality work
currently produced by Pennsylv
ania craftsmen.
A dinner for members of the
Guild and guests on Tuesday,
August 7, precedes the public
opening on the following day.

Chapter), Chairman of this

Orie Wolf, 914 Grandview Dr.,
Akron, has been appointed to the
position of district sales super
visor at Victor F- Weaver, Inc.,
New Holland, Pa.
Wolf joined the Weaver
organization in 1970 £o retail
sales supervisor for Weaver
Foods, a subsidiary. Since then
he has served as a salesman, and
broker representative in the
Weaver prepared food
division.
In his new responsibilities as
district sales supervisor, he will
direct the sales efforts for
Weaver’s Prepared Foods in the
Chicago, Milwaukee, Min
neapolis, and Grand Rapids
market area.

speak. She will describe the joint
venture of the National Park
Services and the Peters Valley
Craftsmen of New Jersey which
began operation in 1970 and today
is a thriving craft educational
Center.
Following the dinner a
highlight of the evening will be a
preview of the Fair when Margrit
Schmidtka (Conestoga Chapter)
Chairman of the Juried Exhibit
will present the awards which are
chosen from work submitted by
members for distinguished work
by a Jury of three men, all
recognized for excellence in their
field: - John D. Vorlicek,
professor of design and textile,
Philadelphia College of Textile
and Science; Edward S. Eberle,
potter and teacher of ceramics at
the Philadelphia School of Art;
Robert Lyon, professor of Art at
Millersville State. College.
Mrs. Neil Beach, Guild
President (Gettysburg Chapter,
stresses the educational value of
the Fair through the many
demonstrations in all craft
categories as planned by Mrs.
Julie Jensen (Bucks County
Chapter). The “know how” of
weaving, enameling on metal,
ceramics, bobbin lace, jewelry
are but a few of the techniques
that will be shown throughout the
four days of the Fair. The hours
are from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.
Wednesday through Friday, the
10th, and 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Saturday, the llth.
The Pennsylvania Guild of
Craftsmen is a non-profit
organization dedicated to
promote creative crafts, the skill
required to produce them and to
establish a public awareness and
market for the quality work of its
members.
