There were 23 animals entered in the Ayrshire competition. The grand champion animal, and reserve senior champion, was a four-year-old owned by Daryl Martin, Stevens. Reserve champion honors went to the senior breed champion, a two year-old belonging to Penny Halblieb and the Masonic Homes Farms. The junior breed champion was a senior yearling shown by Russell Wilson, while the reserve ribbon went to Rhonda Shope. Both cows were from the Masonic Homes Farms. Rhonda Shope took the top junior showman prize, while Wilson claimed the reserve junior showman ribbon. Warren Schmuck, Peach Bottom, was the champion senior showman. Reserve was Brenda Eshleman. There were only nine animals entered in the Brown Swiss competition, but the four-year old that was named grand champion of the breed “would have been a champion at any size show,” in the words of Robert Pepple, who was the type judge. The animal, which was the only senior animal entered, was owned by Warren A. Schmuck, Peach Bottom.
