Beef and Lamb 4-H Club Sets Annual The annual tour of the Red Rose 4-H Beef and Lamb Club will be held Wednesday, August 1. All club members and their parents are invited to attend. Club members are to assemble by 8:30 a.m. at the farm of Glenn Brubaker, 345 Running Pump Road, Lancaster. Directions: West from Rohrerstown on No. 23 (Marietta Pike) through the new bridge, then first lane to left. From the Columbia Pike, turn north on Running Pump Road, then first lane to right. All club members are urged to attend this tour, and especially first-year feeder, to observe how others handle their steers and lambs and learn the best methods of feeding and management. 20 It 4-H NEWS Z E-town Donegal Club Has Ice Cream Party The fourth meeting of the E- Town Donegal 4-H Community Club was held at the home of Martin Brubaker It was an cream party. The meeting was called to order by vice-president Jeff Swarr. Minutes and roll call were read by Rachel Brubaker. Willis Hackman was honored and thanked by leaders and club members for all his years as a 4- H leader for the club. He told the group how much he enjoyed being Club leader but due to his health he feels he shouldn’t continue as leader any more. Alan Bair, assistant county agent, was at the meeting and --told the Club about the 4-H movie “Tom Sawyer.” Wayne Erb, Darwin Nissley and Judy Stoltzfus informed the group on what happened at the Leadership Congress and Chris Erb told about Leadership school at Penn State University. Dick and Mary Yuninger gave a demonstration on displaying Lancaster Farming, Saturday, July 28,1973 strawberries. Mary got reserve champion on her berries at the round up. The meeting was then ad journed and Bill Reist showed slides of when he was in Europe. News Reporter Judy Stoltzfus MerrimaidsHold Club Round-Up The Merrimaids held their round-up in the Martin Meylin Junior High School on July 23. The leaders judged the members projects while the club prepared a fashion show for the mothers. Suzanne Groff and Treva Lefever narrated the program with Sue Witmer as pianist. The program also included a duet by Treva Lefever and Sandy Weaver, a puppet show entitled “Owl’s Last Brag” by Lisa Bloom and Kim Becker, and a demonstration on terrariums by Kathy Henkel. Susanne Groff ended the program with her speech that won in the County Public Speaking Contest. Everyone was invited to refresh ments prepared by the members of the cooking project. Penn Manor Club Plans Fashion Show The seventh meeting of the Penn Manor 4-H Clashing Thimbles club was called to order by the vice-president Linda Sick man. The 4-H Pledge and the Pledge to the Flag was repeated. Roll call was taken and 18 members were present. It was decided that on July 30 the group will meet at the home of Dorothy Warfel to put on a fashion show for the parents Kathy Myers will be playing her cello at the 4-H talent show Lori Leaman and Jeanne Metzger will be competing in the 4-H fashion show. Clean up committee for the week was Lisa Johnson and Carolyn Judge.
