Cows closed 25-50 c higher, bulls weak. Feeder cattle sold fully steady. Three day receipts 11,500 as compared 20,000 for four days previous week and 12,200 a year ago. Slaughter steers made up approximately 31 percent and heifers 40 percent with a fairly liberal percentage Choice and a number of loads high-Choice and Prime. Cows comprised 10 percent and feeders a short 15 percent. Slaughter operations interrupted at mid-week by 4th of July holiday but demand good by most buying interests. Supplies moderate but some slaughterers have adjusted operations to reduced quotas in view of the modest volume of market-ready cattle available and the con tinued unfavorable ratio between live prices and carcass realizations. Fairly good demand for cattle to be slaughtered at points outside immediate Omaha area. STEERS: Four loads high- Choice and Prime 1095-1283 pounds 3-4 48.00 and load 1222 pounds predominantly grade 3 48.25, moderate volume same grade 991-1295 47.50-47.85 during week.
