Notional Farm Engineers
Honor Dr. H.
Dr. Harold V. Walton, a Lan
caster native and former
Christiana resident, has been
named a Fellow of the American
Society of Agricultural
Engineers.
The honor, held by only 2 per
cent of ASAE members, was
presented Thursday during the
society’s 1973 annual meeting at
the University of Kentucky in
Lexington, Ky.
Walton was on the faculty of
Penn State for a number of years
before joining the agricultural
engineering staff at the
University of Missouri in 1962,
later becoming head of the
department. He held the position
for seven years.
He then served as chief of party
for a University of Missouri
group working in Orissa, India,

Presently vice-chairman of the
Food Engineering Division of the
ASAE, Walton has served as
national director, chairman of
the Pennsylvania State Section
and vice-chairman of the Mid-
Central Region of the
organization. The specialist in
farm structures and environment
received his bachelor’s and
master’s degrees from Penn
State and his doctorate in 1961
from Purdue University in
Lafayette, Ind.

An ERS tally shows these two
products racked up the biggest
sales gains at the dairy counter m
1972, with further increases in
prospect this year.
On a per capita basis, cheese
consumption advanced 9 percent
last year to over 13 pounds.

Photographers planning to
enter the World of Aberdeen
Angus Photo Contest can rest
easy for the next few weeks as
plans have been changed to
accept entries up to September 1,
1973 rather than the previous
deadline of July 1. The reason for
the change was due to the late
spring and summer and above
average amount of rainfall in
most parts of the United States
making it difficult to acquire
good photos of Angus cattle in an
attractive surrounding.
As previously announced, the
contest, a part of the World
Angus Forum in Kansas City,
Missouri October 1-2-3-4, is open
to both amateur and professional
photographers and a total of
$3,000 is being offered in the two
major divisions. A subdivision in
the amateur and professional
competition allows for both
colored and black and white
prints to' be entered.
Entries to the contest must
reflect the broad theme “A World
of Aberdeen Angus Cattle” and
must include one or more or parts
of an Angus in each photograph of
transparency. Any number of
entries will be accepted by each
photographer but each photo or
transparency must be previously
unpublished in any magazine or
