Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until thoroughly,
biscuits are golden brown. Serves Line a shallow, waxed pan
four to six. (9x12 inches) with waxed paper.
Pour batter into pan to thickness
of «/4 inch. Bake at 400 degrees for
15 minutes.
Remove from pan and turn out
on a damp cloth sprinkled with
powdered sugar. Trim hard
edges and spread with whipped
cream or the following filling:
1 egg white
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cold water
1 teaspoon cream of tarter
Mix together and cook in
double boiler over rapidly boiling
water. Beat mixture with rotary
beater until it stands in peaks.
Remove from heat and add 1 cup
shredded coconut Prepare this
filling so it is ready to spread on
cake as soon as it is removed
from oven. Roll as a jelly roll.

1 2 teaspoon baking powder

Vz cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 egg yolks
4 tablespoons flour
12 graham crackers
1 heaping tablespoon butter
Melt butter and brown. Add
sugar and water and boil until
thick Mix egg yolks, flour and
milk. Add to syrup and boil until
thick. Add vanilla and put into
dish
Roll graham crackers and
spread on top. Spread with
beaten egg white and a few
graham cracker crumbs. Brown
slightly.

Farm Women Society 3 met
Saturday, June 16, at the home of
Mrs. George Wealand, Stevens
RDI. Devotions were conducted
by Mrs. Wealand.
The business meeting was
conducted by the president, Mrs.
Clarence Stauffer. Miss Linda
Stuber, chairman of the
Scholarship Committee,
presented the 1973 Scholarship to
Julie Hartranft, Ephrata.
The Society will sponsor a bus
trip to Ocean City, N. J., on
August 4.
Mrs. Harvey Eshelman,
Morgantown, gave a talk on
making decoupage.
The next meeting will be a
family picnic at Walter’s
Meadow.
Society 5
Farm Women Society 5 met
Saturday, June 16 at the home of
Mrs. C. H. Hottenstein, 1400
Country Club Drive, Lancaster.
There were 24 members present.
The meeting was in charge of
Mrs. J. G. Longenecker,
president. Mrs. Hottenstein
conducted the devotions.
Mrs. Longenecker gave a
report of the Executive Farm
Women meeting held recently.
She reported that the Farm
Women Picnic will be held at the
Central Manor Camp Meeting
Grounds at 12 Noon on August 1,
with a covered dish meal.
Homemakers Camp will be
held August 26 to 28 at Camp
Swatara. The theme will be' “Be
Thankful.” Reservations will be
required.
Report of the Spring Rally at
Johnstown was given. The
Society voted to donate $5O to the
Welsh Mountain County Project.
Mrs. Hiram Graybill, Lititz
RD2, entertained the Society with
slides and narration of their trip
to Mexico.

The next meeting will be a
dinner meeting with husbands as
guests at 6:30 p.m. July 28 at the
Conestoga-Sheraton. Policeman
Charles McCoffey will be the
speaker.
Society 14
Farm Women Society 14 met
recently at the home of Mrs. Murl
P. Clark, Strasburg. Miss Donna
Lee Meloy, Millersville, a recent
graduate of Penn Manor High
School who was a representative
of the American Field Service in
Turkey, spoke and showed slides
and momentoes of her trip. Mrs.
Calvin High entertained with
selections on the organ.
The sum of $24.70 was realized
from a food auction.
A nominating committee for
the coming year was appointed.
These appointed are Mrs.
Christian Landis, Mrs. Raymond
Barge and Mrs. James Hall.
Cohostesses for the meeting
were Mrs. Paul Longenecker,
Mrs. Warren Hershey and Mrs.
Jason Mellinger.
The annual family picnic will
be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday
evening, July 11, at the Tinney
Pavilion in Strasburg.

Society 18
Farm Women Society 18 met
recently at the home of Mrs,
Jerome Brubaker, 34 S. Penn St.,
Manheim. Mrs. David Back
waiter, president, presided. Mrs.
Wayne Brubaker had charge of
the devotional period.
Mrs Christ Greider won the
spelling bee conducted by Mrs.
Earl Diem and Mrs. Jay Landis.
The next meeting will be at the
home of Mrs. Charles Warfel,
Conestoga RDI.
Society 31
Farm Women Society 31 met
Monday night at the home of Mrs.
Pat DeLong. The safety program
was a demonstration of artificial
respiration presented by
members of the ambulance
service of Oxford Fire Company.
Roll call was naming a favorite
magazine.
Plans for the trip to the Shore
July 16 were discussed. The bus
will leave Mechanic Grove
Church of the Brethren at 7 a.m.
and return at approximately 8:30
p.m.
The Lancaster County Farm
Women picnic will be held at
Central Manor Picnic Grounds at
12 Noon August 1. Society 31
picnic will be held August 19 at
Mrs. Eleanor Kreider’s.
