Zimmerman Boy Killed
A four-year-old county boy was
crushed to death by a farm
tractor on his father’s farm near
Rothsville early Wednesday
afternoon.
The victim was Marvin M.
Zimmerman, a son of Mr. and
Mrs. Titus Zimmerman of Lititz
RD4.
Warwick Twp. police said the
boy was knocked to the ground by
a drifting manure spreader, then
killed when one of the rear steel
cleated wheels of a farm tractor
ran over his head.
He was pronounced dead at the
scene by Dr. Joseph W. Grosh,

Lititz deputy coroner. Dr. Grosh
said the boy died instantly. He
sustained a crushed head and
chest and multiple fractures, the
coroner added. He said an
autopsy will be performed.
Warwick Twp. Police Chief
Paul Haines said the accident
occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on
the Zimmerman farm, located
along Route 772 near Rothsville.
The child was helping his uncle,
TsaacS Zimmerman, 24, hook up
the manure spreader onto a
tractor in front of the barn.
Marvin was born on the Lititz
RD4 farm of his parents, Titus S.
and Mary R. Martin Zim
merman.
In addition to his parents, he is
survived by a sister, Ellen M.
Zimmerman and a brother, Elvin
M. Zimmerman, both at home.
He is also survived by maternal
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Weaver W. Martin, New Holland
RDI; maternal greatgrand
mother, Mrs. Lydia Ann Martin,
New Holland RDI; paternal
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Menno B. Zimmerman, Leola
RDI; and paternal greatgrand
mother, Lena Z. Shirk, East Earl
RDI.

Federal Order
4 Prices Listed
The April uniform price for
base milk in the federal order 4,
Philadelphia, market area
decreased 8 cents from the
previous month. Excess milk
showed an increase of 4 cents.
In comparison to April levels
one year ago base milk was up 63
cents and excess up 69 cents.
The weighted average price for
the market was $7.17, an increase
of 60 cents over April 1972.
A total of 393 million pounds of
producer milk was pooled in
April of which 61.44 percent was
sold as Class I, showing a
decrease of 4.9 percent of
deliveries made in March, and 1.5
percent increase over April a
year ago. 8,155 Order No. 4
producers provided 13.1 million
pounds per day to dealers during
April, averaging 1,607 pounds per
day per farm. Total value of
producer milk was set at
$28,271,552.08 for the month.
The base milk price was $7.44,
the excess price was $5.57 and the
butterfat differential was $0,071.
