Omaha Cattle
Thursday, May 10
1 Slaughter steers 25-30' "cents
higher than previous midweek
and heifers mostly steady, in
stances 25 cents higher. Cows
closed fully 50 cents higher and
bulls were steady. The modest
feeder supply sold strong to 50
cents higher.
Four day receipts 15,600 as
compared 15,300 previous week
and 19,100 a year ago. Slaughter
steers made up approximately 29
percent and heifers 40 percent.
Cows 13 percent, feeders 14
percent. Liberal share steer and
heifer supply of Choice grade and
most were relatively free of mud.
Rain fore part of week again
curtailed marketings. Fed cattle
trade followed much the same
pattern as previous week with
prices advancing on the early
rounds under an aggressive
demand stimulated by higher
carcass prices which developed
late the previous week. Again,
however prices pointed down
ward at mid-week and a part of
the early upturn was lost.
Average cost slaughter steers
first three days 45.36 average
weight 1119 pounds as compared
44.87 and 1117 pounds previous
week and 34.83 and 1143 pounds a
year ago.
FEEDERS; Outshinments
approximately 2000 head from
regular market trading as
compared 2300 previous week,
supply largely fleshy two-way
steers with moderate volume
yearling heifers.
