Funds for the scholarships are derived from a trust set up by the late Elmer L. Esbensbade, one of the founders of the foundation. Each scholarship is worth $4OO towards expenses at any ac- credited college offering a course ' of study in agriculture and home economics. This year’s winners-were: Jerry L. Funk Urges “Yes” Vote “If all the properties in Lan caster County were reassessed right now, some of our farmers would have to pay so much more in property taxes that thev’d be forced to sell their farms,” Amos Funk told a news conference Tuesday morning at the Lan caster Chamber of Commerce. Funk is chairman of the Chamber’s agriculture com mittee, he is a farmer and is active in a number of local and state conservation - and agriculture organizations. The news conference had been called to discuss an amendment to Pennsylvania’s constitution which could change the method of taxing the state’s farmland. Penn State’s team, composed of Risser, Rich Straub (Philadelphia), Glenn Herrold (Julian), and Kim Sheffer (Dover), placed 2nd in com petion.
