To Learn About
Tractors, gasoline and diesel
engines, and powered machinery
have become a part of our every
day life. They can be our friendly,
convenient servant, or they can
be our deadly foe-depending on
how safely we operate them.
Youth between the ages of eight
and 19 are invited to participate
in the Chester County 4-H tractor
program. The program em
phasizes the safe operation, care
and maintenance of tractors,
engines, and machmery. Youth
are organized into clubs under
the supervision of volunteer,
adult leaders They elect officers,
conduct their own business, and
participate in a variety of ac
tivities such as tours, shop
training, driving contests, sports
and etc.
Interested youths may either
form their own club or join one of
two clubs currently existing in
the county. The Tri-Community
4-H Tractor Club under the
leadership of John Yeager (Tel.
933-7379) Kimberton, will hold
their next meeting at 7:00 p.m.
Friday, May 11 at the Yeager
farm.

Let Purina help you get it!!!
Milk prices influence the size of your milk check. So does
the amount of milk you sell. The Purina Dairy Program
promises to help dairymen get lots of milk to sell.
It’s just good common sense to feed your cows the Purina
dairy Chow that best fits your herd and your roughage.
More milk from the same cows can make your milk check
grow bigger and bigger. Keeps down the overhead ex
pense of adding more cows.
Feed Purina Dairy Chows . . . complete or concentrates.
They are backed by Purina Research and proven by
leading dairymen in this area. Ask us for details of the
Purina Dairy Program. It's designed to help produce big
milk checks.

Cooking Fruits and Vegetables
Ruth Buck, Extension nutrition
specialist at The Pennsylvania
State University, recommends
cooking fruits and vegetables for
the shortest time possible to
retain most of their nutrients,
original shape, and attractive
color. Some vitamins are
dissolved in water and destroyed
by heat. Heat also dulls bright
green color in vegetables and
causes texture breakdown.

Consumers Think Dairy
Foods Are Good Buys
Dairy products are a better
value for the money than most
other foods!
This is an opinion held by over
75 percent of the American
people according to a recent
study of consumer attitudes
toward dairy products and the
dairy industry conducted by the
United Dairy Industry
Association on behalf of the UDIA
family which includes the
American Dairy Association,
National Dairy Council and
Dairy Research Inc.
On the other hand, when asked
if they thought the prices of dairy
products were too high relative
to the prices of other foods,
people split almost evenly with 51
percent agreeing and 46 percent
disagreeing (3 percent didn’t
answer). Nevertheless, when
asked to react to the statement -
“You get good value for your
money when you buy milk” - over
82 percent agreed.
These are three of the questions
from the study analyzed in a new
report - “Public Opinion About
Selected Facets of the Dairy
Industry” - published by the
Marketing and Economic
Research Division of UDIA.
In the sudy, 3,500 persons
nationwide were asked to
respond to some 500 statements
about dairy products and the
dairy industry on a 6-point scale
ranging from definite
agreement to definite
disagreement The current
report deals with only 19 of the
statements in the study, mostly
