Fellowships
Announced by
Drinc, USDA
Two post-doctorate fellowships
at the Dairy Products Laboratory
(DPL) of the U.S. Department of
Agriculture in Washington are
being offered by Dairy Research
Inc. (DRINC) under a new
memorandum of understanding
between DRINC and USDA.
“Intent of the program is to
attract promising young men to
the dairy science field by af
fording an opportunity for
original research under the
guidance of senior DPL scien
tists,” says Dr. Richard E.
Farrar, DRINC Executive Vice
President. “The fellowships will
be renewed for a second year
where nature of the research
warrants. Apost-doctorate fellow
will, therefore, have an op
portunity to become unusually
qualified to enter either com
mercial or academic em
ployment.”
Announcements are being
mailed to the appropriate
departments of the universities of
the United States. Students of
food science, biochemistry,
chemistry, chemical engineering
or any field in the physical
sciences deemed related to dairy
product development research
are eligible.
DRINC’s cooperative research
program with USDA is supported
totally by dairy farmers’ in
vestment in United Dairy In
dustry Association. Both
organizations are located at 6300
N. River Road, Rosemont,
Illinois 60018.
