Society 1 has planned a bus trip to the Flemington Glass Factory and the Duke Gardens in New Jersey on June 2. The bus will leave Lititz from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church parking lot at 6:30 a.m. and stop'at the Cloister Shopping Center at 7 a.m. Any interested members should contact Mrs. David Brubaker. Members planning on at tending the State Farm Rally to be held on May 16 at the John stown Memorial Building in Cambria County should contact Mrs. Paul Kurtz. Society 17 will entertain Society 1 on May 3, at 1 p,m. in the Refton Fire Hall. Members wishing to attend should contact Mrs. Kurtz. Society 12 Farm Women Society 12 met last Saturday, April 21, at the home of Stella Mowrer, 135 Ruby Street, Lancaster. Devotions were in charge of Mrs. Frank Metzger who read the account of the-Easter story from Matthew 28. Roll call was answered by members relating “A smell I find delightful”. For the days program Mrs. Clarence Carter, Mt. Nebo, reviewed the book “The Other Shepherd” by Mary D. Prince. Diming the business portion of the meeting, it was announced the Society is sending out en velopes to each member for a Bakeless Bake. The envelopes are to be returned to Mrs. Mildred Kindig, treasurer, as soon as possible. The Society will tour Hagley’s Museum and Winterthur by bus May 5. Meet at the New Danville Fire Hall at 8 a.m. Members will be sending let ters protesting banning of reading the Bible in space. More details will be given at a later time. The next meeting of the Society will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 21 at the Farm and Home Center when Society 14 membefs will be en tertained. There will be no June meeting. The July meeting will be held on July 17. Fix-It Tip Gutters and ' downspouts are often in bad shape in the spring just when you need them most. This interferes with the pitch of the gutter, causing water to stand in stead of flowing. Tighten the metal straps that hold the gutters in place. If spikes are used, remove and renail where necessary. Clean out the dirt that has accumulated during the win ter. Sand, prime and paint rust spots as soon as weather is warm enough.
