County FP-PS Contest Chooses Area Contestants
Selected members from County
FFA Chapters met at the
Brownstown Vo-Tech School
Tuesday for the annual
Parliamentary Procedure -
Public Speaking contests.
Five teams gathered tor the
Parliamentary Procedure
contest. The teams and their
placings were; Grassland
Chapter, first; Cloister Chapter,
second; Solanco Chapter, third;
Manheim Chapter, fourth, and
Pequea Valley'Chapter, fifth.
The first and' second place
teams will compete in area
competition between Chester and
Lancaster Counties at 1:30 p.m.
May 1 at Brownstown Vo-Tech.
The top winner in the area con
test will be entered in the
regional contest May 15 at Lehigh
Area Community College.
Judges for the session were:
Harvey Smith, vocational con
sultant for Berks-Lebanon-
Schuylkill Counties; Peter Boyer,
teacher of agriculture at

ways to control the pest.
One of the heroic exploits
during the attack on Pearl
Harbor was achieved by
Dory Miller, a Negro Navy
mess attendant. Miller had
taken over an antiaircraft
gun aboard the battleship
Arizona and was credited
with destroying four Japa
nese aircraft. He was award
ed the Navy Cross by Presi
dent Franklin D. Roosevelt.
