Dairymen Find
Dairymen around the nation
are making extensive use of an
audio-response computer located
in Michigan. It is available to
dairymen in several States
through touch-tone phones which
serve as remote computer ter
minals, says Dr. Buel Lanpher,
Extension economist in farm
management, U. S. Department
of Agriculture.
During the present period of
rapidly rising feed costs and
fluctuations in protein prices,

Dr. L. A. Wilhelm, President of
the American Egg Board (for
merly Poultry and Egg National
Board), has announced the
relocation of the national
headquarters office effective
May 1, to 205 W. Touhy Ave.,
Park Ridge, 111. 60068.
The Board’s office is presently
situated at 18S. Michigan Ave., in
Chicago’s loop. The new location
is in a Northwest suburb of
Chicago.
The AEB offices in Park Ridge
will be on the first floor of a two
story steel and glass building, in
a semi-residential area. The
landscaped grounds provide
adequate parking for the em
ployees in the building that
houses approximately 20 other
companies. Out-of-town visitors
will find it a convenient 15-
minutes from O’Hare In
ternational Airport.
“The new location provides
additional office and mailroom
facilities as we add new staff
members and increase the
promotional programs of AEB,”
concluded Wilhelm.

serving farmers. The remote
terminals usually are located in
area or county Extension Service
offices. Dairymen used the
Michigan system 4,733 times in
1972 to find out the least-cost
ration that could be formulated
from available 'jeds. Dairymen
in New Hampshire recently
joined the system.

use this computer service?

The “Capital Investment Model”
was used 917 times in 1972, and
“Crops-Livestock Income
Possibilities” was requested 390
times. Farm management
consultants, bankers, and others
making financial decisions with
farmers also are able to join this
computer “farm management
network” through their State
Extension Services, stresses Dr.
Lanpher.
