Omaha Cattle
Thursday, April 19
Compared previous week's
close; slaughter steers and
heifers mostly 50 higher, in
stances 75 higher. Cows 25-50
higher, bulls fully steady. Small
feeder supply strong to SO higher.
Four day receipts 13,900 as
compared 9100 previous week
and 18,800 a year ago. Slaughter
steers approximately 37 percent
and heifers 40 percent. Fairly
liberal percentage Choice and an
increased number of relatively
clean cattle were on offer. Cows
12 percent and feeders 6 percent.
A reasonable measure of stability
returned to the fed cattle trade
for the first time in five weeks.
The seemingly chronic un
favorable weekend weather
again prevailed to curtail early
marketings but demand was
broadened by the return to
peration of several packers .who
had been idled for varying
periods because of short supplies
and the generally uncertainty
which surrounded the livestock
and meat industry. On the last
rounds, demand by some in
terests was geared to ac
comodate a non-slaughter
holiday in observance of Good
Friday.
