Farm Women Society 8 met at
the Lutheran Church, Maytown,
last Saturday. Twenty-six
members were present.
The meeting was called to
order by the president, Miss
Anna Mae Eby. Several songs

were sung by the group. Miss
Ruth Eby was in charge of
devotions.
The minutes were read by Miss
Mary Grace Martin. The
treasurers report was given by
Mrs. Sylvester Shuman. The
finance committee reported
donations to Easter Seal and
the County Project.
The special feature for the
afternoon was an educational
slide presentation by Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Felty, 144 E.
Charlotte St., Millersville, of a
two weeks trip to Spain, Portugal
and Morocco. Scenes of
monasteries having intricate
architecture, the Tower of Elim,
St. Georges Castle, eucalyptus
and olive trees, cobblestone
streets and donkey carts were
shown. The Palace of Sintra,
Mosques having beautiful
mosaics, marble tile and Moorish
architecture are of special in
terest. Vineyards and beautiful
Casablanca were enjoyed by the
Felty’s.
The St. Patrick’s Day theme
was used by the hostesses for the
afternoon. Mrs. Charles Felty,
Mrs. Lloyd Derr, Mrs. John
Warfel, Mrs. Richard Warfel and
Mrs. Harold Ney served on this
committee.
The deadline for tickets to the
Spring Rally at Johnstown is
April 14.
The next meeting will be held
at the home of Mary Sarver at
7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12,
when Society 8 will entertain
Society 23. The speaker will be
Mrs. Charles Adams.

Aston was cohostess. Mrs. Grace
Rineer had charge of devotions,
reading Psalm % from the
Living Bible. Eighteen members
and one visitor were present.
This meeting was “Show and
Tell”. Members brought crochet
work and embroidery, flower
arrangements and many
beautiful things. One lady showed
a green corsage made of five-one
dollar bills, in keeping with St.
Patricks day.
Te Society voted to donate $lO
to the American Cancer Society.
The Society is continuing its
sewing project of bed pads and
Cancer pads for Conestoga View.
The Society will take a bus trip
to Hagleys Museum and Win
terthur on May 5. The cost of the
bus (only) is $3.50. If anyone is
interested in helping fill the bus,
call Ethel Kindig, 30 Wabank
Road, Millersville, for further
information. Her phone number

Farm Women Society 14 netted
$75 at a White Elephant Sale
recently at a meeting at the home
of Mrs. Raymond Barge,
Strasburg. Mrs. Barge was
assisted by Mrs Clarence Herr,
Mrs. Maurice Herr and Mrs.
Everett Newswanger
A donation of $lO was given to
the Easter Seal Fund The group
will assist in entertaining a
Homemaker’s Club from
Michigan on May 2 and 3. The
Club will tour Lancaster County
at that tune. Lunch will be served
to the guests at the Farm and
Home Center.

Church of the Brethren Saturday,
March 17. Mrs. Ida Warfel had
charge of devotions.
The sewing date for the
General Hospital was Tuesday,
March 20. It was voted to send $lO
to the Easter Seal Campaign.
Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Balmer
showed the group their pictures
from the tour of the People to
People tour.
The next meeting will be at the
home of Mrs. Warren Weaver,
Roseville Road, Lancaster.
Society 3 will entertain Society 18
at the Salem Lutheran Church,
Lincoln, on Thursday evening,
April 26.
Farm Women Society 21 held
its March meeting recently at the
home of Mrs William
Arrowsmith, Peach Bottom RDI.
Co-hostesses were Mrs. William
Skiles and Mrs Charles Tindall
Jr
Mrs James Long, president,
reported on plans for the annual
Spring Rally to be held m May.
She also discussed the Women’s
Seminar to be held April 3 and 4
at the Lancaster Hilton.
