Today we hear much about
racism and we’re told not to be
prejudiced and not to
discriminate.
Over 25 years ago, two of us
were sent to a Recreation School
in Vermont to learn how to
square dance and also how to
teach After an all-day bus ride
from New York City we found
ourselves late at night deposited
among a conglomeration of other
students In our group we had
white and black, Chinese and
Jews, high morals and low.
After one week my companion
decided to leave for Lancaster
County He had enough of this
“kooky” bunch. I got to know a
very nice negro girl named
Pearl The Chinese boy was
discovered to have a wonderful
sense of humor and the Jewish
couple had true dedication as
they told of their plans to move
with their children to Israel.

Sometimes it seems as though
we do things backwards. My
daughter, who has had her own
car for several years now, tells
me she intends to get a bicycle. In
years past the car was purchased
after the bicycle
Older folk like to tell of the
miles they walked to school.
Even I remember walking from
Neffsville to Oregon as a pre
school youth It had the nearest
trolley to Lititz Springs Park and
we certainly did not intend to
miss our Sunday School picnic
all those races to be run and those
goodies to eat

recently completed her sixth
consecutive record over 1,000
pounds of butterfat. Her records
were made in 365-day or less
lactations, twice daily milking.,
This record puts “Rae” in a
select group of 553 “Iron Grand
mas”, which are Registered
Holstein cows that have produced
over 200,000 pounds of milk
during their lifetime. “Rae’s”
lifetime total is 222,053 pounds of
milk
“Rae” also has the two highest
consecutive butterfat records
produced by a living Holstein cow
and two consecutive records over
30,000 pounds of milk. She has
recently freshened with a heifer
sired by Paclamar Bootmaker.
“Rae’s” six 1,000-pound records

HFAA Performance Records
Department superintendent
Jack Meyer recently announced
that 115 records over 1,000 pounds
of butterfat were received at
HFAA from mid-December of
last year to mid-February, 1973.
Eighteen records in excess of
30,000 pounds of milk were also
received during that period. All
were single lactation records
completed on DHIR test.
