Omaha Cattle
Thursday, March 8
Compared to the previous
week’s close- Clsoing prices on
slaughter steers and heifers 25-50
higher with many at full advance
as feeder buyers continued to
compete aggressively for fleshy
950-1100 pound two-way steers
while heifer demand continued
broad Cows 2 00-2 50 higher and
bulls fully steady Feeders sold
50-1 50 higher
Four day receipts 15,700 as
compared 15,200 previous week
and 18 400 a year ago Slaughter
steers approximately 35 percent,
heifers 34 percent, cows 11
percent and feeders 18 percent
Puces on slaughter steers and
heifers again pushed upward
with moderate marketings and a
higher carcass trade the main
stimulating factor Only one
lower weekly trend has been
recorded since Thanksgiving,
that coming in the Christmas-
New Years holiday week The
warming trend made virtual
quagmires out of feedlots as
ilready bad conditions worsened
md almost bottomless secondary
toads seriously impeded
