Pauline has been a member of
Farm Women Society 23 for eight
vears She just finished serving
two years as secretary and is on
the Ways and Means committee
this year This committee will
have a food stand at her father’s
sale March 13, in fact they will
have food stands at four sales
within two weeks Mrs Shenk
always attends the County Farm
Women Convention She also
attended the State Convention in
January and the Spring Rally last
year at Somerset
Shenks enjoy camping They
have a sleep-six travel trailer
which they hook behind their car
They have been camping six
vears They went to Nova Scotia
twice and have gone to Prince
Edward Island Last summer
Mr and Mrs Shenk and Dale
went on a 10-day trip to the
Finger Lake section of New York
state Dennis and Donna did the
work at home while they were
gone They have gone to the
Sandy Cove Bible Conference on
the Chesapeake Bay and to the i
Poconos lor weekends
Ben is quite a hunter He has
bagged 19 buck deer in Potter
County He made one trip to
Wyoming and got an antelope
there He hunts a lot in Nova
Scotia He has many trophies in

church library. She also enjoys
reading periodicals such as the
Good News Broadcaster and the
Moody Monthly
Pauline says “I love to cook,
besides my baking I like to en
tertain ” She is happy to share
some of her market specialties
such as her lemon sponge pie,
pumpkin pie and Donna’s coffee
cake as well as some other family
favorites
Lemon Sponge Pie
3 eggs, separated
1 Vj cups sugar
1 cup flour
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 cups milk
Juice and rind of 1 lemon
Beat egg yolks, sugar, flour,
lemon juice and rind and melted
butter together Stir in milk. Beat
egg whites until stiff Fold in
mixture
Put in pie shell and bake at 350
degrees for about 45 minutes
Pumpkin Pie
4 cups cooked pumpkin
I'/, cups sugar
I tablespoon flour
1 tablespoon cornstarch
Dash salt
2>{. teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
(can be omitted)
f. eggs
1 quart milk
Cook, drain and mash pum
pkin
Add sugar, spices, flour,
cornstarch and salt to cooked
pumpkin Beat eggs and add to
mixture Add milk last and mix
well
Pour into 3 nine-inch unbaked
pie shells Bake at 375 degrees
about one hour

1 Vi cups sugar
'/-i cup Cnsco oil
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Mix together to form crumbs.
Take out ivfe cups crumbs.
Add:
2 eggs
4 tablespoons molasses
Stir and add one cup buttermilk
In another cup of buttermilk
stir in 2 teaspoons soda.
Add to mixture Bake in 3 nine
inch pans or in a 13 x 9 x 2 inch
cake pan Sprinkle with raisins
and then crumbs. Bake at 350
degrees for 35 minutes

Sausage Casserole
I x k pound loose sausage meat
1 box frozen peas (10 oz.)
Bread filling
Make bread filling as you do for
a fowl. Mix filling, sausage and
peas and place in greased
casserole. Bake at 350 degrees
about one hour.
Serve with pork gravy

Frozen Fruit Salad
3 ounce pkg cream cheese
I can crushed pineapple (No. 2
can)
(Mix cheese with pineapple
luice)
1 No 2Vz can fruit cocktail
Add Va cup sugar
1 bottle lemon-lime soft drink
Freeze vuntil chunky Fold in
one-half pint whipping cream
(whipped) '
1 cup miniature marshmallows
Put in freezer x trays and return
to freezer until Cut into
squares and serve on lettuce

2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
I cup Wesson oil
3 cups grated carrots

4 eggs

cinnamon. Beat slightly. Add oil,
eggs, carrots and coconut.
Bake at 350 degrees about 40

(Delicious on Carrot Cake

1 cup granulated sugar
v 2 cup butter
v 2 cup Cnsco
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix well sugar, Cnsco and
vanilla until creamy Scald milk
and let sit until warm Gradually
blend into mixture Beat until
light and fluffy. Spread on cake.

I cup sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
Cook over medium heat
Remove and stir in
1 cup peanut butter
Pour over 6 cups rice krispie:

6 oz. chocolate chips and
6 oz. butterscotch chips
