Conservancy To Purchase Open Land The Lancaster County Con servancy announced Tuesday it is ready to buy its first piece of open land John R Helter, conservancy secretary would not reveal the location of the land or the present owner but said these facts would be released at a future special meeting of the conservancy Helter said the initial tract could be as much as 100 acres. He said the land would remain un developed, but would be made available to municipalities or organizations as long as it was preserved as “open space ” The conservancy was formed in late 1969 as a nonprofit organization for the preservation of open space and park land. Under laws of the organization, properties willed, given or sold to the conservancy will be preserved “forever” as open space Between 75 to 100 persons belong to the conservancy.
