Old Farmer’s Riddle: Why is a nobleman like a book? (Answer below ) Once in the dim and musty past there Has a country called Siam. In Siam, which was in the Fm East, the ulnte elephant was pretty nigh sacred. So sacred, in fact, that a small army of men were kept busy caring for the critter and keeping him fed. In return the ele phant merely looked pleasant and allowed folks to look at him Is far as we know, the expression tame from this mite of history, referring to something expensive to maintain, and just about useless. GROFF, INC. New Holland Egg Market Tuesday, January 16 Some traders are nervous as anticipated improved demand is not as strong as hoped for while others continue to clear their stocks satisfactorily. Fair weekend retail clearances coupled with previous orders and early week store door deliveries have tended to slow new buyer interest in numerous eastern consumer centers. In other sections demand ranges from slow to fair with slight improved interest on large and mediums. Large are adequate to ample and this size is meeting the best demand countrywide. Some surplus mediums are available but these are scattered while extra large are not as readily available pricewise as last week. Fri. NORTH ATLANTIC: Prices mostly unchanged but market unsettled. Some weekend retail carryover evident, so new cartoned orders only fair despite some lower offering prices. Wholesale trade very light due to cautious buyers. Supplies of white eggs not ex cessive but some back up noted on extra large and large. Also, ungraded available on short notice, mediums and smalls spotty but adequate.
