Greg served the Manor FFA Chapter as an officer each of his four years as a vo-ag student As a freshman he was Chapter reporter, was assistant secretary as a sophomore, treasurer his junior year, and is serving as Chapter preident in this his senior year. He has been a member of the State FFA band for four years and has been awarded the State FFA Band award. He was also renominated for National FFA band. He has served on numerous committees in his local Chapter, and attended the State and National FFA Conventions His present farming program consists of 10 dairy animals, six acres of corn and five acres of alfalfa He is interested in going into partnership with his father after graduation William Hershey, a senior at Solanco High School, is the son of Mr and Mrs Earl Hershey, Quarryville RD2 His farming program in FFA included dairy animals, beef and swine fattening projects, and corn projects Bill is presently holding the office of Chapter vice-president He was previously Chapter treasurer William Hershey Solanco FFA Chapter He has participated in the National FFA Land Judging Contest at Oklahoma City and was a member of the Solanco Parliamentary Procedure team which placed second in the State contest. He is vice-president of the Mechanic Grove Mennonite Church youth group and is also a member of the Solanco Dairy Club Jim Zimmerman, son of Mrs. Dorothy Zimmerman, Ephrata RD3, is 17 years of age. He is a member of the “Zimmerman Family” singing group. President of the Grassland FFA Chapter, he has been a member of an FFA musical Jim Zimmerman Grassland Chapter group, a member of the National FFA Chorus at Kansas City, and attended the National FFA Convention. He has been a State Public Speaker also. Jim’s farm operation consisted of hog production. He is em ployed at Stauffer’s Fruit Farm, Denver. Jim is active in SCS programs. He is an officer in his local youth group and a member of the church chorus. He plans to continue to work in some agribusiness, such as a fruit farm. He is a member of the Cloister FFA Chapter at Ephrata and holds the office of Chapter secretary. His farming program includes a herd of registered Holsteins, veal calves, market hogs, and field corn. He received silver and gold awards with his record books in the county and state contest. Richard exhibited the grand champion market hog at the County FFA Market Hog Show and reserve champion hog at the Ephrata Fair. He has also par ticipated in local, district, and State dairy shows, winning many awards with his Holsteins. Richard attended the PAFC Summer Institute and the State FFA Conventon. A Chapter delegate to the National FFA Convention, he was also a member of the Cloister FFA dairy judging team which won the FFA division at the North American Dairy Cattle Show, Columbus. Ohio. David Bitler Solanco FFA Chapter David Bitler, son of Mr. and Mrs Ralph Bitler, Peach Bottom RD2, is a senior at Solanco High School His projects have consisted of swine, two cows, three heifers, two steers, alfalfa, corn, small grain, and a local milkers relief service. He served as reporter for Chevrolet builds ’em tough! To last! the Solanco Chapter last year and is presently vice-president. Dave participated in the 1972 International Land Judging contest in Oklahoma and was on the Penn Dairy Judging team that went to the Eastern States Exposition. He also participated in the Solanco FFA parliamen tary procedure team. Other interests include 4-H, the Solanco Dairy Club, and at tending Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church. Gerald Metzler Octorara FFA Chapter A son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Metzler, Christiana RDI, Gerald Metzler will receive the Keystone Farmer Degree at Harrisburg this week. Having served as treasurer and secretary of the Chester County Future Farmers, he also served as secretary and vice-president of the Octorara FFA Chapter. Gerald won a gold medal in dairy showmanship at the National Convention at Kansas City, Mo., and won a gold award in the state project book contest. He has been an outstanding leader and has served on several Chapter committees as well as participating in many Chapter activities. Gerald’s agricultural interests lie in dairy and crop farming.
