vocational agriculture teachers,
a Berks County vo-ag teacher,
and an area agribusinessman
have been named to receive
special recognition by the state
Future Farmers of America at
the mid-winter convention in
Harrisburg on Wednesday.
Phillip Ogline, vo-ag teacher at
Garden Spot High School, will
receive a Special Citation, being
recognized for his years of
teaching service Ogline received
the Keystone Farmer Degree
while a high school student.
Having taught for nine years, he
has been at Garden Spot for the
past six years. He teaches about
200 seventh and eighth grade
students and 52 ninth graders. He
also teaches two sections of ninth
grade environmental ag.
Jess Erway, Young Farmer
advisor at Manheim Central High
School, has been named to
receive the Honary Keystone
Farmer degree He has been
teaching at Manheim Central for
10 years His duties presently
include teaching classroom and
shop skills to 26 ninth grade vo-ag

before entering the teaching
profession. A graduate of Penn
State University, he received a
Master’s Degree from Lehigh
University He is a member of the
Naitonal Honorary Agriculture
Fraternity, Gamma Sigma
Delta, and Alpha Tau Alpha, the
Agriculture Education Frater
nity.
He is a member and past
president of the Topton Rotary
Club, Topton Pioneer Grange,
chairman of the Topton Borough
Planning Commission and Zoning
Hearing Board
Miles W. Fry Sr , Ephrata RD3,
was chosen to receive the
Honorary Keystone Farmer
degree for agribusinessmen
Fry is being cited by the FFA
organization for his untiring
efforts in working with vo-ag
students not only in Lancaster
County but in many areas
throughout the state. The Fry
hybrid poplar and crown vetch
operation is used for field trips,
and he has donated a con
siderable number of trees to FFA
groups, many of which have been
