Interstate Asks Aid
For Dairy Farmers
“Dairy farmers seek im
mediate relief from high feed
prices and must have aid ‘now’”,
asserted Dr. James E. Honan,
general manager, Inter-State
Milk Producers Cooperative,
Thursday.
Honan called upon agricultural
leaders throughout the Northeast
to rally and secure urgently
needed help. “Regardless of the
source,” continued Honan,
“assistance is required to combat
soaring feed prices They are
going up, up, up,” declared the
dairy leader.
The concerned manager for
dairy farmers asied U.S.
Agricultural Secretary Earl L.
Butz, Pa Secretary of
Agricultural James A. McHale,
and Pa Milk Marketing Board
chairman Harry Kapleau,
Thursday, to provide an im
mediate solution to the milk

be made by the board of directors
at a meeting called for Jan. 3,
1973. This action resulted from
the members’ delegates action on
Nov. 15, 1972. This feed shortage
has reduced the supply of milk by
five per cent and wilj continue
unless immediate action is taken,
concluded Dr. Honan.
