Four area 4-H’ers have won
scholarships for their
achievements, it was announced
this week in Chicago during the
51st National 4-H Congress. They
are: Agnes Arnold, Lebanon;
Walter Latshaw, Spring City;
Sarah Schroeder, Kempton, and
Ann Stratton, Kutztown.
Agnes Arnold was one of six
national winners in the 4-H food
nutrition program. Her $7OO
scholarship will be paid for by
General Foods Corporation, who
also paid her expenses to the
Congress. Miss Arnold is the
daughter of Mrs. Mary M. Ar
nold, and a sophomore at Penn
State. She won the scholarship for
teaching good nutrition to
children from low-income
families.
Walter Latshaw, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Latshaw, Spring
City, Chester County, was one of
two national winners of $BOO

Sarah Schroeder, Kempton,
Berks County, was one of 12
national winners of $6OO
Achievement Program
scholarships from the Ford
Motor Company Fund. Miss
Schroeder is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Schroeder. She is a
sophomore at Kutztown State
College, majoring in elementary
education.
Anna Stratton, College Hill,
Kutztown, received one of six
$7OO scholarships awarded by
Standard Brands, Inc. The
daughter of Lawrence M. and
Barbara Stratton, she is a senior
in high school, active in school
organizations and a nominee for
4-H county .council president. She
also has attended the 4-H
Citizenship Short Course in
Washington, D C., and in 1972
was a Rotary Club exchange
student for three weeks in
France.
