Farm Women Society 3 held a “come-as-you-are” party for members and their husbands and a masquerade for children Saturday evening, October 28, in Salem Lutheran Church, Ephrata. Prizes for children were won by Tracy Miller, Bradley Edwards, 2V2” Tapered Fleights Society 3 Ph 626-4355 Shirley Nolt and Sally Gregory. Adult prizes were won by Mrs. Carroll Myers, Earl Stauffer and Mrs. Gilbert Paul. After a covered dish supper, games were played by children and adults. A short business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. Clarence Stauffer. The following officers were elected for 1973: Mrs. Clarence Stauffer, president; Mrs. Jesse Balmer, vice-president; Mrs. Earl Smoker, secretary; Mrs. Earl Miller, asst, secretary, and Mrs. Gilbert Paul, treasurer. The husbands of members will be entertained Friday evening, November 10 at a dinner at the Black Horse Hotel followed by bowling at Ephrata Lanes. The members will display a table of Holiday Decorations at Lancaster County Homemakers Day November 28. The com mittee in charge is Mrs. Roy Wemhold, Mrs. John Edwards, Mrs. William Eberly, Mrs. Harry Resner, Mrs. Harvey Gehman, Mrs. Earl Miller, and Mrs. Irene Lehman. Members will entertain a Homemakers froup from Michigan in their homes in May of 1973. The following were appointed to buy Christmas gifts for children; Mrs. Donald Graybill, Mrs Walter Trumbaurer and Mrs. Luther Moore The next meeting will be at the home of Misses Mary and Ada Royer, Ephrata RD. Members will show antique kitchen gadgets and a book review will be given by Mrs. Quentin Eiseman. Her thoughts were taken from a verse in the Bible which says, “This is the day the Lord hath made; ye shall rejoice and be glad in it.” This meditation was very inspiring. Hostesses for the meeting were Goldie Groff, Ada Greider, Matora Hostetter, Barbara Workman and Sandra Yokum Mrs. J. G. Longenecker president, reminded the group oi the County Convention November 4. She also announced the State Convention will be held January 8 and 9,1973, at Harrisburg. There will be a bus available from Lancaster to Harrisburg. Theme of the State Convention is “Do-it-Yourself”. Each member attending the banquet is asked to make a 25-cent favor which will be exchanged. Tickets for the banquet are available. The next meeting will be November 22 when husbands will be entertained at a dinner at the Park View Hotel, Hershey, and a hockey game following the dinner. Those attending should meet at 5:15 p.m in the parking lot at the United Church of Christ, Manheim. Society 9 Farm Women Society 9 members elected Mrs. Paul Zercher president during a meeting held in the home of Mrs. Clarence Carter, Mount Nebo. Mrs. Marguerite Kreider was elected vice-president and Mrs. Helen Campbell and Mrs. Helen Huber were reinstated as secretary and treasurer respectively. Mrs William Gnng and Clare Gardner were assisting hostesses Mrs George Brinley led devotions. Mrs. George Trout and daughter showed slides of Hawaii The group will sew at the Lancaster General Hospital on November 8 The annual Christmas banquet is planned for December 7 at 6:30 p m. at the Akron Restaurant. Each member will bring a towel to contribute to the Boys Club and also a dollar gift to exchange. Clothing and money were received for the Needlework Guild Ingathering to be held at the Ins Club on November 14. Members wishing to contribute garments or linens may bring them to the next meeting The next meeting will be held November 9 at 12:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Wilbur Heller, Conestoga RDI. Mrs. Eh Har nish, Mrs. Frank Reighard, and Ida Wiegand will assist. Each member will bring fruit to fill fruit baskets for distribution to local shut-ins. Society 11 Farm Women Society 11 met for its October meeting recently at the Community Building at Mechanic Grove. The meeting opened with hymn singing and devotions by Miss Mary Swarr. A review of the year book was given by Mrs. Herman Shirk. Reports were given that several members gave a day to fold Christmas Seals at the Health Center in Lancaster. Several members gave a day for cancer pad sewing at the Methodist Church m Quarryville Plans were made to visit Conestoga View along with members of another Society m the very near future. Another cancer pad sewing session will be held at the Quarryvill Methodist Church on Election Day, November 7. Plans were completed to attend the County Convention November 4 at the Lancaster School of the Bible The treasurer had reported all obligations had been met and all bills paid An auction was held which replenishes the treasury Galen Stauffer showed slides of the work at the atomic plant at Peach Bottom, also many, descriptive views of the river hills while the Philadelphia Electric Co was erecting the dam there At the close the committee in charge served refreshments.
