Shapp Proclaims Young Farmer Week The week beginning November 5 has been proclaimed Penn sylvania Young Farmer Week by governor Milton Shapp Shapp signed the proclamation in Harrisburg recently, while PYFA members and representatives of various state agencies looked on. The proclaunation read; Agriculture is a basic and vital part of our economy. Capable and well-educated leadership is needed to maintain and improve the efficiency of American agricultural production for the benefit of both producers and consumers. The Pennsylvania Young Farmers Association is organized through the Vocational Agriculture Programs in the public schools for the purpose of providing continued educational opportunities for the young farm families. Young farmer programs in local communities provide technical information, develop civic responsibilities, and promote rural-urban un derstanding. The Pennsylvania Young Farmers Association enables young farm families throughout the State to associate together in frequent planned meetings, whereby they gain new ideas, create new friendships, and acquire valuable experiences. The Achievements of the Pennsylvania Young Farmers Association merit public recognition. Therefore, I, Milton J.
