We were hunting for dried grasses. It was rather late in the season and we found they had dried naturally on the stalk but still stood erect in shades of brown, gray and white. I’m sure that all they need is a few bright straw flowers at the base to make a winter bouquet. We usually find a tree or bush which we can’t name and so we hunt it up in our “Tree” book. Philip is studying his en vironment in science class at school. He tells me his list of wildflowers and weeds was one of the longest. Many times they don’t realize this relationship until someone hunts up their geneology. This story is told about my Grandfather Landis. Whenever he told his mother about the new girl he had met, she would say that is a cousin. After being told this several times he burst out saying “Who can I go with, everyone is my cousin.” We’ve been having a few unusual foods recently. My parents gave quinces which they got in Berks County and our son brought a basket of mushrooms from a friend in Chester County. But we are willing to try most anything.
