New York Eggs
Wednesday, October 11
Prices were about steady.
Receipts steady and continue to
contain a heavy proportion of
large and extra large white eggs.
Locally, jumbo and smalls are
short with unfilled interest
reported on the smalls. Extra
large and large whites are still
excessive. Large browns were
cleared early as demand for
browns reversed itself. Mediums,
in moderate supply, are ample
for the current slow inquiry.
Overall, demand for bulk eggs is
still highly irregular with some
improvement noted in a few
quarters. Discounting is not as
heavy as last week and protection
policies have tightened. Street
sales of extra large white noted at
31-32 C.
