Junior showmen honors, for
exhibitors 14 years old and under,
went to Cynthia Shenk, of
Conestoga Rl, with her sister,
Joanne, taking second

Houser, Lampeter, captured the
FFA crossbred championship
and an Angus shown by Carol
Harnish, Lancaster R 6, the 4-H
Angus championship.
The 4-H Hereford steer was
shown by Jim Greider, of
Columbia R 2, with Susan Herr’s
steer taking the 4-H crossbred

A three-way crossbred steer won the reserve champion
ribbon at Thursday evening’s Ephrata Fair baby beef show, it
was shown by Nancy Wenger, Stevens.
class and eventually winning the
show’s top award.
The hog show was also held on
Wednesday, and Parke Hess, 16,
Conestoga R 2, showed the
champion market hog as well as
the champion pen of two hogs.
Hess is a member of the Penn
Manor Future Farmers of
America and a senior at the same
high school.
The chamnion sow was a
Yorkshire, shown by Dwight
Houser, Lampeter. . Thomas
Ruoss, Ephrata Rl, had the
champion boar, a Duroc.
RESERVE CHAMPS
The champion pen of four
market hogs belonged to Cliff
Charles, Lancaster R 2. Dwight
Houser showed the reserve
champions.
The reserve champion pen of
two market hogs was also owned
by Houser.
Judge for the swine show was
Jay Coble, Dauphin County
farmer.
At Wednesday’s iamb show,
Ken Brubaker, 13, of 2418
Harrisburg Pike, showed the
grand champion ewe lamb, a
Hampshire.
Rank Walker, Lancaster R 2,
showed the champion Cheviot
ewe lamb.
Dairy contests dominated
Thursday’s activities at the
Lampeter Fair. The Guernsey
competition was first on the
agenda.
Grand champion honors as well
as the senior champion prize
went to Ernest Wolfe, Strasburg
Rl, who showed a three-year-old
cow. The reserve champion as
well as junior champion was a
junior calf shown by Kathy
Brenneman, Strasburg Rl.
Larry Brenneman, Strasburg
Rl, showed the top bull calf.
Donald Brenneman, Strasburg
Rl, showed the top intermediate
calf as well as the top two-year
old. Art Brenneman, of Willow
Street Rl, took first prize in both
the four-year-old and .aged cow
categories.
At the Holstein show. Sue Frey
showed the grand and senior
champion, while her sister,
Sandra Frey, took the junior
champion prize.
Other Holstems winners were:
Carl Troop, bull calf, in
termediate calf, and senior calf,
J. Mowery Frey; junior yearling,
John Frey; senior yearling,
Randy Hess, junior get-of-sire, J.
Mowery Frey, two-year-old, John
Frey; three-year-old, Elvin
Hess; four-year-old, Sue Frey,
and aged cow, J. Mowery Frey.
