It is the aim of the association to have every member on the kind of testing program that best suits the individual needs. Now is the time to evaluate your program and make necessary changes. Help your association better serve you by filling out the questionnaire found with this month’s report. The local DHIA association can give you the type of program you want, but first your wants must be known. Protect your cattle against IBR and Shipping Fever According to Sam Guss, our Penn State Extension Vet, a new vaccine which can be sprayed into the nostrils of cattle offers safe protection for dairy herds against IBR and shipping fever. Within 4 days of administration of the nasal vaccine cattle have good levels of protection, and protection against IBR lasts for at least 2 years. Shipping Fever vaccines usually do not offer solid protection for more than one year. Cattle are vaccinated in late September and October and are usually not exposed to other stress at the same time. Nor mally, all animals over 4 months old should be vaccinated. During outbreaks of IBR, veterinarians have found it better to vaccinate all animals in the herd regardless of age. i 1 I 'MSy I I: T&Za I I I. o | DEPENDABLY YDURS Him GAS We Delivei LP-Gas No matter where you live, you can count on us to service LP-Gas needs fast and efficiently.
