Compared with last weeks
close closing prices slaughter
steers and heifers strong, in
stances 25c higher. Cows steady
to 25c higher. Bulls fully steady.
Feeders strong to 50c higher.
Four day receipts 17,900 as
compared with 17,000 previous
week and 19,800 a year ago.
Steers approximately 28 percent,
heifers 40 percent with rather
liberal showing Choice and
percentage of Choice increased
by volume of two-way steers and
heifers returned to feedlot for
further finish. Fed cattle trade
continued to show high measure
of stability even in face of a
somewhat bearish carcass trade.
Most slaughterers in need of
cattle for immediate
requirements and aggressive
feeder buyer demand offered
strong support to good and Low-
Choice short fed steers and
heifers. Late week marketings
swelled by arrival of second
annual “T-Bone special” from
Audubon, lowa territory.
