It has been found as far south as Garrett County, Maryland. He indicates it is probably present in other areas of the Com monwealth and on other two and three-needled hard pines. The only control of the disease in Scotch pine plantations is to weed out and burn infected trees. At present there are no recom mended fungicidal controls. The fungus does not require an alternate host but causes repeated reinfections on the pine. Thus, disease can intensify greatly in a few year’s time in an affected plantation. •SPECIAL FALL FEEDER SALES* FRIDAY EVENINGS AT 7 O'CLOCK SEPTEMBER 29 OCTOBER 6, 13, 20 All-Charolais Show ft Sale October 13 November 3, and 17 VINTAGE SALES STABLES INC.
