Rick Tindall, 15-year-old Solanco High
School student, from Peach Bottom RDI,
displays the trophy and ribbons he
Cries of “Heave! Heave!” and “Pull! Pull!" rang out as
FFA teams from throughout Lancaster County competed for
the tug-o'-war championship Thursday afternoon at
the Solanco Fair. The day’s toughest tuggers proved to be
the hometown Solanco team.
Three calves were given away after the left won the Guernsey calf, Don Weaver,
FFA judging contests held Thursday at the center, won the Ayrshire, and Scott Steffy
Solanco Fair. The calves were donated by went home with the Holstein,
county breed associations. Dave Gerhart,
received after his animal was named as
grand champion sow Thursday at the
Solanco Fair.

Mike Landis, a sophomore at Solanco, exhibited the grand
champion feeder pig at the Solanco Fair this week, a cross
bred York-Hamp-Duroc.
The grand champion sow and litter at the Solanco Fair this
week was shown by Paul Hippie, a junior at Solanco High
School.
