Mrs. Roy Brubaker served as the song leader and Mrs. Joseph Russell presented the devotions. Mrs. Graybill Bollinger, president, presided at the meeting. Mrs. Leon Ulrich, program chairman, announced that the society will visit the Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3. The Ways and Means Com mittee, Mrs. J. Clayton Sangrey, committee chairman, reported that a sub sale will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The subs will be made at her home. All orders must be in by Saturday, Oct. 14 and orders may be placed by calling Mrs. Willis Bucher, 626-5300. Mrs. Daniel Brubaker reported on the Farm Women Camp she attended at Camp Swatara in August The following women will help fold Christmas Seals at the Health and Welfare Office, Lancaster from 9 a.m. to 12 noon Friday, Oct. 13: Mrs. Elmer Hershey, Mrs. Graybill Hollmger, Mrs. J. Mrs. Alma Sheaffer conducted the devotions. The president, Mrs Mae Hosier, had charge of the meeting. The roll call was answered by stating the number of years they are married. The group will make two centerpieces to be used at the County Convention to be held Saturday, November 4 at the Lancaster School of the Bible. The next meeting will be held Saturday, October 14 in the home of Mrs. Roy Shelly, Elm. Society 10 Farm Women Society 10 met in Gimbel’s Community Room recently with Mrs. Noah Getz serving as hostess. Mrs. Harry Wieder led devotions. O. D. Shippley, Lancaster, retired commissioner of traffic safety, discussed “Problems We Face on the Highways Today.” He told the group that statistics show that more persons are killed by traffic mishaps than by wars and noted that it is estimated than when 1972 ends there will have been two million traffic deaths in the United States. He also gave examples of what other countries are doing to emphasize the responsibility of getting behind the wheel of an automobile. For example, the Scandanavian driver who mixes alcohol and gasoline faces a severe penal judgement and socially a loss of prestige based on public opinion. During the business portion of the meeting Miss Ida Kunkle, president, informed members that patients at the Embreeville State Hospital are now relocated at the Harrisburg State Hospital. Future parties and visits will be arranged for Harrisburg with special interest to be directed to the Lancaster County building. Penn Hurst patients will now occupy the Embreeville facilities and will house patients from other counties. Miss Kunkle also asked members to remember charter member, Mrs. Bertha Landis, Cal very Fellowship Homes, Lancaster, who observed her 95th birthday on September 5. Plans were set for the sale of fruitcakes.
