During this time, he has
worked m all of northeastern and

spending most of his time
working with feed dealers and

Commenting on his years in the
feed business, Hiestand said that
he has seen many changes. He
recalled the days when feed was
mixed on the barn floor with a
feed shovel, and contrasted that
method with the precise micro
mixing used in the manufacture
of today’s feeds.
He said it’s not uncommon
today to finish an animal ready to
market with about half the feed
and in almost half the time it took
to do the same job 40-sears ago.
Hiestand said he has no im
mediate plans for the future, but
he will be watching with keen
interest the progress of the
livestock and poultry industry in
Lancaster County.
