Undertone fully steady though often cautious. Pool trucklot prices for Thursday arrival: U.S. GRADE A 30-33 M 30; PLANT GRADE 29- 31 M 29. New York Eggs Prices trended higher. Street trading is improved on all sizes and grades and is fairly active. Mediums and smalls are moving to a more favorable position and local stocks on hand are reduced to adequate levels. Large are well cleared and total holding are no more than sufficient to fill trade needs Carton demand is good and major retail outlets note sharp increase in movement on all sizes. Standard to average-Good 50-75 c lower. Heifers mostly 1.00- 1.25 lower. Cows steady and bulls steady to 50c higher. Feeder cattle and calves weak to 50c lower. Four day receipts of 18,200 as compared to 16,250 the previous week and 18,350 a year ago. Slaughter steers approximately 38 per cent, heifers 40 per cent, cows 11 per cent, feeders 8 per cent. The exception of the previous week’s rather stable fed cattle trade; slaughter steers and heifers have closed lower in five of the last six weeks. Fed cattle prices were under pressure from the start and increased supplies coupled with sharply declining wholesale carcass trade pushed prices to the lowest level since mid May. STEERS: Early in the week eleven loads High-Choice and Prime 1036-1310 pounds 3-4 36.50- 36.75.
