The Club’s service project consisted of baking cookies for the Children’s Home in Millersville. Some of the girls entered the Creative Foods Contest held August 17 at the Farm and Home Center The last meeting of the sum mer included a Mother’s Tea and the awarding of ribbons. News Reporter, Cathy Miller Boots & Saddles Plans Gymkhana The Boots and Saddles 4-H Horse and Pony Club held its regular monthly meeting last week at the home of Diane Reese, Conestoga Blvd, Lancaster. President Jim Watts called the meeting to order and led the members saying the 4-H pledge. Secretary Diane Reese read the minutes of the last meeting. They were approved as read. Diane Reese called the roll, with 25 members present There was no old business to discuss. Under new business, it was announced that a clinic for anyone who is interested in learning how to teach their horse to jump would be held, at the home of Sharon Bare, Witmer. It was also announced that the members, parents and friends were invited to go along with the Valley Lea Trail Riders to the King Ranch in Chester County for a trail ride Sunday, August 20 The Club decided to take a bus trip to Cowtown, N.J. to see the rodeo Saturday, August 26. It was decided to have a teen leader and show committee meeting to plan the final gymkhana for the year and to make plans for a picnic to which other clubs will be invited.
